A message from Dr. Hank Toutain regarding a student incident Posted on January 4th, 2009 by

To the Gustavus Community:

I write to inform you that at approximately 3:30 a.m. this morning a first-year Gustavus student was found lying in the snow off campus, at the south end of St. Peter. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and the student was transported to an area hospital and is undergoing treatment for cold-related exposure.

I have been with the student throughout the morning and visited with the student’s mother. The student has moved out of intensive care but clearly will require additional medical attention due to exposure.

The matter is under investigation by local authorities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the student and the student’s family.

Dr. Hank Toutain
Dean of Students
